During the 28-day period from Dec. 18 to Jan. 14, reported robberies have increased 51.3% in northern Queens, from 117 cases the previous year to 177 this year. A 92-year-old Bayside woman was robbed by a stranger who barged into her home near Alley Pond Park on Wednesday morning. Police from the 111th Precinct in Bayside are looking for the man who knocked on the door of the victim’s residence in the vicinity of 231st Street and 64th Avenue just before 11 a.m. on Jan. 3.

During the 28-day period from Dec. 4-31, the number of robberies rose 54.2% in northern Queens, from 118 cases in 2022 to 182 in 2023.
