Plans Filed for an 8-Story Apartment Complex in Douglaston

Plans have been filed for an eight-story, 47-unit apartment complex to go in Douglaston.

The development, which would be built on a vacant lot at 44-14 Douglaston Parkway, would be approximately 84-feet tall and would include 21 enclosed parking spaces.

The owner is listed as Gandolfo Difiore, who operates under the business name of Manor North Properties LLC.

The property is located between Church Street and Northern Boulevard, and is near the Douglaston LIRR train station, which is serviced by the Port Washington line.

Frank J. Quatela Architects is listed as the architect of record.

A Fresh Meadows resident alerted authorities after witnessing a neighbor vandalize a religious statue at a local church that has been targeted several times in recent years.

Freddy Genao, 38, of 169th Street, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief as a hate crime for damaging the front doors of Holy Family Church on the night of Saturday, June 21, and then smashing the neck and face of a statue of the Blessed Mother on the front lawn.
