A man is dead after crashing his vehicle at the intersection of 37th Avenue and Parsons Boulevard (GMaps)

A 25-year-old Flushing man is dead after losing control of his 2022 BMW Sunday night and crashing it at the intersection of Parsons Boulevard and 37th Avenue.

Tao Wu, of 158th Street in Flushing, was driving his vehicle westbound on 37th Avenue at around 9:50 p.m. when he struck the sidewalk at the Parsons Boulevard intersection causing his BMW to roll over.

EMS arrived on the scene and transported Wu to New York Hospital Queens where he was pronounced deceased. No one else was injured in the crash.

Twenty individuals were indicted and variously charged in a wide-ranging scheme to steal cars in Queens, throughout New York City and its suburbs, following a three-year investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the New York State Police dubbed “Operation Hellcat,” into the criminal enterprise based in Queens.

Some of the vehicles were stolen from owners’ driveways, some with the keys or key fobs inside. The stolen vehicles were often sold through advertisements on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The defendants are charged in nine separate indictments for a total of 373 counts, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday.
